We have arranged 3 amazing visits to the Corby Cube Theatre for Reception Class this year:
Hazel Leys Academy will be entering a swimming squad of 8 children into a swimming Gala at Corby International Pool on Thursday 23rd May 2019. The squad is made up of two Year 6 and six Year 5 children. Those taking part have been informed separately.
Year 2 SATs dates are Wednesday 8th May, Thursday 9th May, Tuesday 21st May and Wednesday 22nd May
On 21st May 2019, Year 5 will be blasting their way off to the National Space Centre in Leicester. The children will see an amazing 360 degree Planetarium Show. Then, they will take part in ‘The Great Rocket Challenge’! Working to a budget, students must work together to design, construct and launch their rocket to 'land' on the Moon. Their craft must be designed based on strict criteria and materials purchased on a budget. Working in teams of 3 to 6, they compete to see who can build the best, and most successful, rocket which goes to the Moon. Which team will win the race?
The Academy closes on Friday 24th May and re-opens to pupils on Monday 3rd June
On Friday 17th May our Year 6 will be visiting British Airways head office to find out about a career in aviation, learning all about the many roles that exist and visiting a workplace.
Year 6 SATs start on Monday 13th May until Thursday 16th May
We have been invited to take 15 of our Year 3 pupils to attend the ‘Tackling Health Festival – Northampton Saints Day of Rugby’ on Monday 29th April at Franklins Gardens in Northampton. The children will have an introduction to Northampton Saints, then a behind the scenes tour. They will then take part in a healthy sandwich making workshop followed by a Tag Festival Training Session on the pitches in the afternoon
On 24th April 2019, the Year 5 classroom will be raided by Hrothgar the Viking! Hrothgar will be taking the children to his camp to discover the life of a Viking Warrior – they will learn all about trading, the gods, life and death, gender roles, food and drink, runes and Viking games. Presentation is a mixture of show and tell, Q&A and story-telling in which the children get to play the characters.
The Academy will be closed on Friday 5th April for a Teacher Training Day. The Academy will reopen to pupils on Tuesday 23rd April.
