Forest School

What is Forest School?

Forest School is an inspirational process that offers children regular opportunities to achieve, and develop confidence and self-esteem through hands-on learning experiences in a woodland environment.

Why is risk taking important?

The Campaign for Adventure is concerned with the current climate of risk aversion.  An example of the positive side to risk is where children test their skills and learn to face new challenges.

Outdoor education gives depth to the curriculum and makes an important contribution to students’ physical, personal and social education’ (Ofsted, 2004:2)

Research demonstrates that children who participate in Forest School benefit in the following areas:

  • Confidence
  • Social Skills
  • Language and Communication
  • Motivation and Concentration
  • Physical Skills
  • Knowledge and Understanding
  • New Perspectives
  • Ripple Effect Beyond Forest School
